Police will be actively patrolling in and around school zones today as students return.

They’re warning drivers many children will be out of their usual school routine and may have forgotten basic road rules that normally come as second nature, due to the disruptions to on-site learning in the last two years.

Drivers are being reminded to obey 40km/h speed limits in school zones.

The minimum penalty for speeding in a school zone is a $227 fine and the loss of one demerit point.

Parents are also being reminded to follow parking restrictions.
