Police issue fresh update after Captain Cook statue vandalised again

Victoria Police have spoken after a Captain Cook statue in the CBD was targeted by vandals again.

The alleged offenders tried to cut off the statue’s head in the early hours of Tuesday morning, according to police.

The statue, which is outside Cooks’ Cottage in Fitzroy Gardens, has come under repeated attacks from vandals.

“It’s quite an unsavoury thing for the community to hear about,”  Victoria Police’s Martin McLean told Jacqui Felgate.
