Police Minister Wade Noonan says the drug ice is likely to be playing a role in the spike of drive-by shootings in Victoria.

There have been five drive-bys in Victoria in the space of just a fortnight, with a man left dead and four-year-old wounded following a shooting at Thomastown on Tuesday.

Mr Noonan told Neil Mitchell he was concerned by the brazen nature of the attacks.

He said they were very unlikely to be ‘random’.

‘The conversations I’ve had with Victoria Police very much point to our ice trade, drugs, and obviously organised crime and outlaw motorcycle gangs,’ he explained on 3AW Mornings.

‘That seems to be the source.’
