Police release images of man wanted over sexual assault at Fitzroy North
Police are on the hunt for a man following a sexual assault at Fitzroy North earlier this month.
The female victim was asleep on Saturday, January 8, when she woke shortly after 4.30am to find an unknown male who sexually assaulted her.
She screamed and the man fled.
The woman’s partner attempted to chase the offender, but was unable to find him.
Police were called and also conducted a search, but couldn’t find the man, either.
It’s believed a number of personal items including a wallet and electronic equipment were also stolen from the property.
Police examined CCTV from around the area and have since identified a man seen in the immediate area around the time of the incident, wearing clothes similar to that described by the victim.
Detectives have released images of a man they are looking to speak to and are appealing for anyone who recognises him or saw him in the area around St Georges Road, Clauscen Street, Barkly Street, Holden Street, Miller Street on the night to come forward.
They are also appealing for the man to come forward and speak to investigators.
