Police situation unfolds near Wyndham Vale childcare centre

A man has been arrested following a dramatic police negotiation at Wyndham Vale on Monday which led to a childcare centre being placed in lockdown.

Police were responding to reports of a suspected burglary at Brougham Avenue when a man fled and attempted to hide in the roof of a neighbouring property.

A 28-year-old Truganina man was subsequently arrested peacefully after a brief negotiation.

There were reports the man was armed, however, police said no weapon had been found.

Police are still calling for witnesses regarding any other suspicious activity in the area.

It follows reports of a woman fleeing the scene in a car.
