Police have taken over the investigation into an incident between a woman and an allegedly chopsticks-wielding Dustin Martin.

It’s been confirmed it was the AFL that referred the matter to police.

‘Things just got a whole lot more serious,’ Sam McClure told Tom Elliott.

Martin on Monday apologised for his role in the incident and said he was ‘deeply embarrassed’.

Today’s police statement

Police are now investigating after reports of a woman threatened by a man at Chapel Street restaurant in a St Kilda about 9.40pm on Saturday.

The incident was not initially reported to police however police are now aware of the incident and have identified the victim is a woman from Sydney.

The investigation remains ongoing.
