Police to light a fire in extraordinary murder case development

Police will start a fire near the Great Ocean Road today as part of the investigation into a fatal shooting in Keysborough.

Muhamed Yucel was shot dead while playing video games in the garage of a house in Keysborough in May last year.

Homicide Squad detectives believe the 22-year-old was killed in a case of mistaken identity by the Comancheros Outlaw Motorcycle Gang.

Police revealed today they’ve recovered a firearm that has now been forensically linked to the shooting.

In a extraordinary development, police have requested fire authorities conduct a controlled burn near Eastern View Beach as part of a search for further evidence.

The burn will begin about 1pm and continue through the afternoon.

Traffic is expected to be disrupted on the Great Ocean Road.
