Police Association secretary Wayne Gatt has given his thoughts on a new groundbreaking tool which can give police “real time” access to emergencies as they are unfolding.

Currently being trialled in NSW, instead of just making a call, callers will be asked to hold up their smartphone and produce a livestream of the scene to allow police to see in advance what they are responding to before heading out.

“This sort of technology across emergency services is becoming more and more widespread,” he told Tony Jones, filling in for Neil Mitchell.
