Political donation crackdown will see taxpayer foot the bill
The state government admits the taxpayer will almost certainly be filling the gap in political donations after the unveiling of tough new caps.
The government has introduced the strictest and most transparent laws, capping donations at $4000 over a four-year parliamentary term.

Tom Elliott spoke with Gavin Jennings, the special minister of state, who confessed the taxpayer would fill some of the void.
“We’ll be anticipating an increase,” Mr Jennings said.
“We’re not being disingenuous about that.”
