Australians are becoming increasingly concerned about the country’s excessive drinking habits.

A new poll shows 78 per cent of people believe it’s a concern, while the same number want more to be done to reduce the harm of alcohol.

FARE Policy Manager Amy Ferguson said many respondents also supported closing pubs and clubs earlier in the night.

‘This poll shows there is strong support for a range of policies to reduce alcohol harm,’ she told 3AW News.

‘What we’ve constantly seen over the past few years and again this year is that the majority of Australians ? 82 per cent ? support a closing time of 3am or earlier for pubs, clubs and bars.’
