Popular pub near Geelong announces closure

Locals in Batesford, near Geelong, have been left shocked after a popular pub shut its doors.

Andrea told Neil Mitchell the closure of the Batesford Hotel has “just come out of nowhere”, and the hotel revealed a new menu just nine days ago.

The hotel has taken to Facebook to say it’ll be closed “temporarily closed until further notice”.

But a later post from the venue’s Instagram story suggested an ownership change.

“We deeply regret to inform you that due to the financial crisis and additional unforeseen circumstances, the hotel will no longer be operating under our ownership,” it read.
