UPDATE

Port Adelaide has banned one of its fans indefinitely after she threw a banana at Eddie Betts.

Betts booted five goals during the Showdown at Adelaide Oval last night, but the night was overshadowed by the racist incident, which was captured on camera and posted online.

After investigating, the Power said it had no doubt the incident was one of racism.

‘It is clear that the offender’s behaviour was racially motivated and is therefore a significant breach of the club’s values,’ the club said in a statement.

‘As a result, the Member has been banned indefinitely from attending any Port Adelaide games in the future.’

The Power said they will offer the woman an opportunity to take part in the club’s Aboriginal cultural awareness programs.

Earlier, Richard Earle from the Adelaide Advertiser told 3AW Football the fan could be banned for life.

‘And I don’t think the club would oppose that,’ he said.
