Transmission towers at the Loy Yang Power Station have sustained significant damage during Melbourne’s wild weather on Tuesday.

Caller Shane told Jacqui Felgate that high winds brought down multiple towers and the surrounding power lines.

“Six of the huge transmission towers have come down and power lines have come down with them,” he told 3AW Drive.

“It was like an overgrown Meccano set.”

Victoria Chamber of Commerce CEO Paul Guerra said the power outages were simply not good enough.

“Two days of hot weather, businesses and homes around the state are without power,” he told Jacqui Felgate. 

It’s not acceptable and not good enough.
