Energy provider Powercor has angered customers by cutting power in Mildura today, despite it being the eighth day in a row the city has topped a 40 degrees.

Caller Zane told Neil Mitchell he received a message from the company warning of the planned outage, and was cut off at 8.30am on Tuesday, despite his protests.

He said he’d been told to expect the power to be switched back on at 3pm after the heat of the day.

Zane said his neighbour had a family member in her 80s and a sick daughter at home.

Neil Mitchell said it was a ‘ridiculous’ move by the company.

‘That is absolute garbage,’ he said.
