A family has been dealt another cruel blow after the death of their elderly father when thieves stole a number of sentimental items including his wedding band and watch.

Maria Barber contacted Neil Mitchell in the hope of launching an appeal for anyone who sees the items to contact police.

Her father died a month ago and her 76-year-old mother is in hospital battling pneumonia.

But the family has taken another hit when thieves broke into the parent’s home.

‘The most sentimental was a wedding band and also a Citizens watch mum had bought him,’ she said.

‘We’re hoping pawn brokers may identify that watch, that ring.’

Australian pennies of various denominations were also stolen, as well as two yellow gold signet rings with black onyx stones.

Ms Barber said her mother was devastated by the burglary.

‘She is quite distressed, she is sill grieving and dealing with her illness as well,’ she said.

‘It’s a little bit too much for her.’
