The Premier won’t rule out raising taxes in the May state budget.

The Andrews government went to the 2014 state election promising no new taxes and no tax increases above CPI.

But today the Premier wouldn’t repeat the pledge.

He was asked five times.

‘Something weird’s going on, that’s for sure,’ state politics reporter Lauren Hilbert told Neil Mitchell.

The government has already flagged increasing debt to pay for Victoria’s infrastructure spend.

But the Turnbull Government has indicated there will be no buckets of money for the states in its budget, so Victoria will have to find cash from elsewhere.
