‘Pretty revolting’: Patient lifts lid on worrying state of The Alfred

Horror stories have emerged about the state of The Alfred Hospital, with a recent patient telling Neil Mitchell she couldn’t believe what she saw and experienced while she was there.

It comes after The Alfred’s director of trauma service declared conditions at the hospital “hopeless” and made an urgent call for the state government to reveal its plan for the top trauma hospital.

Sally (not her real name) told Neil Mitchell her most recent stay at the hospital was “pretty third world” and troubling.

“It was pretty revolting, to be honest with you,” she said.

Disturbingly, Sally said she was physically shaken by another patient who needed to be supervised and wasn’t.

“I obviously didn’t want to sleep,” she said.
