Priests to break the seal of confession: Bill passes through the lower house unopposed

A bill compelling religious leaders to report child abuse has passed the Victorian Lower House of Parliament.

The Historic laws require priests to break the seal of confession and to report child abuse passed through unopposed.

In a highly emotional debate, a number of MPs recounted personal experiences with friends, relatives, and constituents who had suffered abuse at the hands of clergy.
