Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull visits the Surf Coast
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has toured bushfire affected zones along Victoria’s Surf Coast on Tuesday.
The bushfires, which continue to burn, destroyed 116 homes including 98 at Wye River and 18 at Separation Creek on Christmas Day.
3AW Police Reporter Pat Mitchell spoke to Tony Jones from Wye River where he said that the Prime Minister met some of the residents who lost properties in the fire and also congratulated CFA crews.
Though the fires have been significantly downgraded, authorities will be on high alert on this Thursday’s New Year’s Eve where temperatures are expected to soar to 39 degrees.
