Fire shut down the Princes Freeway in-bound in a shocking morning on Melbourne roads.

Drivers stuck on the Princes Fwy told Ross and John they were stationary for more than 30 minutes after the truck trailer burst into flames near Little River.

Lanes started re-opening about 8am.

That was one many incidents contributing to traffic mayhem on Melbourne roads this morning.

A caller to 3AW Breakfast said a truck and van collided on the Eastern Freeway inbound, between the Chandler Hwy and Burke Rd.

Amid the long list:

– A pedestrian has been hit on the Burwood Highway, Vermont South, near Bunnings in-bound just after you get off Eastlink
Ascot Vale Rd is currently closed between Maribyrnong Rd and Moonee Ponds Junction after the tram derailment – PHOTOS HERE
– The middle lane of the Monash Freeway is closed out-bound between Stud and Heatherton roads
– There is a car broken down out-bound on the Greensborough Bypass at the Grimshaw St lights
– Callers says that on Ferntree Gully Rd (in-bound), just before Springvale Rd, a taxi and a truck have collided, with the truck’s roof load going into the back window of the taxi
