Prison phones disabled for five days due to Telstra outage
Corrections Victoria has confirmed a Telstra outage disabled all prisoner phones at Barwon Prison and Marngoneet Correctional Centre for five days.
The outage, which began on Friday night, has been blamed on an issue at a Telstra telecommunications pit.
It meant inmates couldn’t contact family or lawyers.
Corrections Victoria told 3AW Mornings most staff phones were unaffected and there was minimal impact on prison operations.
All phones across both facilities have now been fully restored.
