Prisoners at Fulham prison busted growing marijuana inside jail
Almost 30 cannabis plants have been found growing inside a Victorian prison.
It’s been revealed 28 plants were found hidden in the ‘veggie patch’ at Fulham Correctional Centre, near Sale in the state’s east.
It’s a medium security facility.
The crop was first discovered on Tuesday, before more plants were uncovered on Wednesday.
Victoria’s Corrections Commissioner Jan Shuard told Neil Mitchell it was an unacceptable blunder.
‘It’s embarrassing,’ she said on 3AW Mornings.
‘These things shouldn’t happen.’
The prisoners had been taught horticulture at the prison.
Neil Mitchell said it raised further questions about what happened inside Victorian jails.
‘It makes you wonder what else is going on in there?’ he said.
