Private companies will be charged thousands of dollars for clogging up busy roads under a new congestion-busting trial.

As reported in the Herald Sun, Victorian Roads Minister Luke Donnellan told Ross and John the trial is to be rolled out this week.

“One of the things we notice is they’re building a high rise next door and put up a sign which says ‘Roadworks’ and they’re not roadworks at all!” Ross said.

“No, it’s all part of the property development,” Minister Donnellan replied.

“Councils have been doing this for years and we need to value our road space and get people in and out as quickly as possible.

“That’s why we’re introducing this trial in the City of Yarra to get people to minimize the time spent on arterial roads.”
