Private emails of thousands of Victorian barristers secretly searched
The private email accounts of thousands of Victorian barristers were searched in secret last year.
The breach came as part of an investigation to identify who posted a fake Victorian Bar notice using a homophobic slur in an elevator at Owen Dixon Chambers East last year.
Law and justice editor at The Age, Chris Vedelago, says it’s “a pretty shocking story”.

The Victorian Bar Council emailed its 2200 members to inform them of the serious privacy breach on Tuesday. The Bar Council says no confidential information about clients or cases was accessed without permission.
