Private school and council clash over mental health facility
Alphington Grammar and the City of Yarra are at it again, this time over a mental health hospital that has been given approval to be built next to the private school.
The school and council clashed last year after council ordered the school to tear down a gate which limited local access to Darebin Creek via Old Heidelberg Road.
Yarra City Council voted unanimously in favour of the latest proposal, despite a heated meeting where it was claimed the move would put students at the school “at risk” from patients.
