Astro-physicist and author Dr Lisa Harvey-Smith has spoken to Neil Mitchell in a fascinating chat on 3AW Mornings.

She spoke about her love for sport, being home-schooled from age 11, the enormity of the universe and what she believes exists in outer space.

She’s also the first Women in STEMM (science, technology, engineering, math and medicine) ambassador.

“I did really like school, it was a great little school,” she said.

“But when it came to secondary school, it was very different.

“A lot of the teaching was gendered, a lot of it was girls have do these subjects, boys get to do the fun stuff, woodwork, metal work, and sports I enjoyed.

“I just thought, stuff that, and I decided to not go.”
