‘Profit over our children’: Glen Eira families devastated by council child care centre closures

Residents have been left devastated after the Glen Eira council voted last night to close three child care centres.

Katerina, a mother whose children attended one of the centres, says she hoped the council could have kept the centres open for a further twelve months.

“We had state and federal governments who were putting offers on the table to work together with council to find a solution,” she told Tony Jones.

She also says up to 30o children will impacted by the closures and the “ripple effects” of the closures also devastating.

“We’ve all called multiple child care centres and we don’t have places,” she said.
