Properties evacuated after gunshots heard and suspicious device located in Thomastown

Police are investigating reports of gunshots in Melbourne’s north overnight.

Emergency services were called to a property on Barry Road in Thomastown at about 1am.

They located a suspicious device at the address and people were evacuated from nearby properties.

The area has since been deemed safe.

A crime scene remains in place and the investigation remains ongoing.
