PSOs to patrol regional bus interchanges under Coalition election bid
The State Opposition has pledged Protective Services Officers will patrol two regional bus interchanges and shopping malls, under a tough-on-crime Coalition election bid.
Shadow Police Minister Ed O’Donohue told Tony Jones the PSOs would patrol the Moorabool bus interchange in Geelong and the Little Bridge bus interchange in Ballarat.
He said traders welcomed the move in Ballarat precinct, described as a “cesspool of crime”.
“We want to use that foundation to expand their role into other logical locations where there’s crime, where people are deterred from using public transport and where anti social behaviour takes place,” he told Tony Jones.
The Andrews Government has also promised to expand the PSO program.
