Psychiatrist blasts Jordan De Goey’s ADHD ‘excuse’

A psychiatrist has blasted disgraced Collingwood player Jordan De Goey for blaming ADHD for his actions caught on camera in Bali.
Collingwood yesterday gave De Goey a $25,000 suspended fine after footage of the footballer making sexual gestures, while an unseen figure attempts to pull a woman’s top off, emerged.
Speaking about the incident on Tuesday, De Goey revealed he has recently been diagnosed with ADHD.
“I am trying to become more aware of why I make the mistakes that I do,” he said. “I have again made a mistake.”
But psychiatrist specialising in ADHD, Dr Tanveer Ahmed, says the condition is no excuse.
“It’s not sleazy footballer syndrome,” he told Neil Mitchell.
“Yes, it can affect impulse control, sure, but I don’t think that’s an excuse for the types of behaviour you’ve alluded to.”
“Clearly he wanted to use it as an excuse.”
