A leading medical voice famously opposed to lockdown says Victoria’s draconian response to COVID has created “more harm than good” for the state and we’ll be dealing with it for years to come.

Dr Jay Bhattacharya, Professor of Medicine at Stanford University, told 3AW delays in medical care, as well as social, health and education impacts on children, in particular, would be felt in the coming years.

“I think the lockdowns in Victoria were excessive and what happened, in many ways, created more harm than good for the Victorian population,” he said.
