Public help to apprehend suspected carjacker

Civilians have come to the assistance of police in apprehending a suspected carjacker in Mill Park.

Witnesses described a drug-affected man “ranting and raving” while wielding a machete, attempting to steal three cars before being apprehended.

Reports suggest a bus driver and a truck driver blocked street exits in order to help Police.

The 29-year-old Preston man is now in custody.
