‘Pulled from under a house’: Australians flee to Egypt after Gaza border opens
There’s been some good news out of Gaza with the Rafeh border crossing opening to allow Australians and other foreign nationals to flee to Egypt.
Founder of Olive Kids, and Palestinian Australian, Amin Abbas says, the figures from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trades suggest about 20 Australians were able to leave including one who was pulled from the rubble of their elderly mother’s home.
“They seem okay to an extent, because remember, they’re leaving family behind, they’re suffering from that survivor guilt … they’re definitely extremely concerned and stressed,” he told Neil Mitchell.
