Punt Rd closed, injured women catch Uber to hospital

A stretch of Punt Road is expected to be closed throughout the morning peak after a car hit a power pole.

The crash happened at the intersection of High Street about 1.50am.

The three people in the car caught an Uber to the nearby Alfred hospital.

Two women remain in hospital in a stable condition.

Punt Road is closed between High Street and Commercial Road while the power pole must be replaced.

VicRoads said anyone who usually uses that stretch of road in the morning should consider other plans.
