A more than 100 kilometre long attempt to evade police has ended in the carpark of Frankston Police Station, with two people surrendering with their hands up.

A Patterson Lakes resident initially raised the alarm at about 10.30pm on Tuesday, after discovering two male suspects trying to break into a car.

The offenders threatened the resident with a weapon and rammed his vehicle before fleeing in a Toyota.

Police monitored the vehicle from the ground and air as it travelled to Altona, then crossed the city again, heading back towards the south-eastern suburbs.

The vehicle reportedly reached speeds of up to 150km/h at times.

The pursuit came to an end in the car park of Frankston Police station, with two males — aged 17 and 20 — handing themselves in.
