Push for Airbnb properties to be put on the rental market

There has been a push for Airbnb properties and other short stay accommodations to be put on the rental market, to help fix the long-term rental crisis.

The Lord Mayor of the City of Melbourne, Sally Capp, first floated this idea and managing director of Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute, Dr Michael Fotheringham, agrees with her.

“We need to encourage the owners of those properties to make them available for people to live in,” Dr Fotheringham told Heidi Murphy, filling in for Neil Mitchell.
