Push for ‘sustainable’ immigration as new poll reveals what most Aussies think

Tom Elliott

A new Resolve poll has found 60 per cent of Australians believe immigration is too high with a minor political party campaigning to decrease the amount accepted each year.

Founder of the Sustainable Australia Party, William Bourke, says immigration needs to be reduced to a “sustainable and manageable level.”

“We’re a pro-migration party, we just want it reduced back to a normal level, the average 20th-century, where we had seven million migrants come to Australia was about 70,000 per year – tremendously successful,” he told Neil Mitchell.
