Business groups are calling for workers to return to Melbourne’s CBD from February.

Since December 23, the state government has advised Victorians to work from home if they can, due to the Omicron wave.

But executive director of the Victorian Property Council, Danni Hunter, says it’s “time for people to be able to go back to the office if that’s what they want to do”.

“It’s absolutely incumbent on CEOs and big businesses, but it’s also absolutely incumbent on the Victorian state government, as soon as it can, to get proactive about its language in encouraging and incentivising people back to the office. That will give big business the confidence to be able to do so,” she told Ross and Russel.

“The reality is for every office worker another five jobs in the CBD exist to support that office worker.”
