Push to change laws to stop landlords demanding ‘invasive’ information about tenants
There are calls to change the Residential Tenancies Act to stop landlords being able to demand references and information from employers about prospective tenants.
Luke Hilakari is Secretary of the Victorian Trades Hall Council and told Tom Elliott he was routinely asked to provide salary and personal information about staff, which he says is unnecessary and invasive.
“I just don’t think it’s right,” he said on 3AW Drive.
