Push to raise minimum hourly pay rate
The Small Business Council says the state government hasn’t considered the full impact raising the minimum hourly wage will have on business.
Peter Strong, CEO of the council, told Tom Elliott consumers needed to wear the brunt of any rise.
The Victorian government is calling for the biggest wage boost since 2010 – a rise from $18.29 per hour to $19 per hour.
“They think it’s simple,” Mr Strong said.
“But they don’t get the nuances.”
