Qantas offers perks to frequent flyers to apologise for travel chaos

Qantas is gifting most of its 14 million frequent flyers a $50 travel credit as part of a formal apology for poor performance.

The credit comes after months of flight delays, cancellations and baggage mishandling.

The airline will also allow frequent flyers to retain their current Silver, Gold, Platinum or Platinum One status through to as far as mid-2024, and chairman of Strategic Aviation Solutions, Neil Hansford, says that’s the perk that most frequent flyers will be satisfied with.

“That’s more important to more business travellers and frequent travellers than $50 is,” he told Ross and Russel.

But Mr Hansford says the airline still has a lot of work to do.

“When you’re in the gutter, just because you’ve got your foot up on the pavement doesn’t mean you’ve solved all your problems,” he said.
