Qantas sets ambitious pre-Christmas target for international travel
Qantas boss Alan Joyce says the airline is planning to resume flights between Australia and London a week before Christmas.
And he says bookings are already filling up.
“We believe these flights have a real prospect of operating,” he said.
The airline will ground its non-stop Perth-London flights until next April, due to Western Australia’s strict border restrictions, with a direct service to the United Kingdom instead taking off from Darwin Airport once borders re-open.
“We are planning from the 18th of December,” Mr Joyce said on 3AW Breakfast.
“In the interim (while Perth is grounded) we are planning on doing Melbourne-Darwin-London, or Melbourne-Singapore-London.”
