Queen Elizabeth II breaks reign record

There will be celebrations across the UK over the next 24 hours when Queen Elizabeth II becomes Britain’s longest-reigning monarch today.

The Queen, already the oldest monarch at 89, overtakes Queen Victoria with 63 years, seven months and two days.

Random stat: During her reign, Queen Elizabeth II has owned more than 30 corgis.

Gavin Grey told Ross and John three words summed up the Queen’s reign: ‘Steadfast, constant, dutiful.’
