An advanced dementia patient has been admitted to vote in the upcoming federal election.

And it’s led to questions about how their votes can be accepted.

Doris Jennings, wife of dementia patient Claude, told Tom Elliott she was shocked that the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) was taking votes from aged care facilities.

“He doesn’t even recognise his own family,” she said on 3AW Mornings.

“How can his vote be accepted?”
