Questions raised over Prime Minister’s ‘very strange’ decision
Questions are being raised about Scott Morrison’s decision to meet with Sky News commentator Piers Morgan for 45 minutes amid unfolding local and international crises.
With major flooding devastating Queensland, and the war in Ukraine unfolding, Mr Morgan tweeted he’s had a “45 minute chat” with the Prime Minister about Ukraine, China, cancel culture, cricket and Mr Morgan’s new television show.
“It doesn’t indicate it was actually an interview being conducted, but very strange optics, I would have thought, in the middle of a big local crisis with the flooding and a massive international crisis with the Ukraine, for our Prime Minister to be giving 45 minutes to Piers Morgan to chat,” entertainment reporter Peter Ford told Ross and Russel.
“To me that sounds like a very strange decision.
“If it was an interview … unless they’re putting it to air tonight, a lot of the stuff they’ve talked about is going to be very dated.
“I can’t see what the point of it all was.”

Great to meet Australia’s Prime Minister @ScottMorrisonMP at his office. Had a fascinating 45-min chat about Ukraine, China, cancel culture (not a fan), @BorisJohnson (big fan), cricket (the Ashes 🙈) & my new global TV show. Thanks for your time, PM. 👍 pic.twitter.com/jBse65cVFX
