Questions have been raised over solar panels being a viable alternative to other forms of energy with Australians struggling with the cost of living.

Director of distributed energy at the Clean Energy Council, Con Hristodoulidis, says the cost of solar panels has come down.

“The first thing you’ve got to look with solar panels, is the payback period for them, if you look at the clean energy data it actually shows the payback period has come down from roughly six and a half years to three to three and a half years,” he told Tom Elliott, filling in for Neil Mitchell.
