New research has found obesity rates in Australia has doubled despite increasing diet rates raising questions about the effectiveness of dieting.

Endocrinologist and Juniper weight expert, Dr Ramy Bishay, says our bodies aren’t made for weight loss.

“The message out there to people is if you’re struggling to lose weight, there’s nothing wrong with your body …  Some people with extreme diets, for example people drinking 3 litres of sugar coke, if you tell them ‘Well, don’t listen to anything I say, if you just change that one behaviour you’ll lose weight,” he told Tom Elliott.
