Questions raised over the realisticness of a new higher education target by the federal government
The federal government has announced their target for 80 per cent of the working age population to hold a vocational or university qualification, but Tom Elliott has questioned if it’s possible.
Honorary fellow at the University of Melbourne and education editor at the Australian Financial Review, Julie Hare, says the target includes 55 per cent of university graduates.
“They just want more people, to have more skills, under the premise that the jobs of the future are going to require higher level qualifications,” she told Tom Elliott.
