Quick-thinking maid of honour takes over after celebrant collapses

A maid of honour stepped in when a marriage celebrant collapsed in the heat at a wedding in the Dandenong Ranges on the weekend, taking her official duties very seriously.

Hot Nuptials told the Rumour File the searing heat became too much for the celebrant, but luckily the quick-thinking matron of honour took over the reigns.

George the groom told 3AW breakfast while she wasn’t a legally qualified celebrant the show had to go on, so the bride’s right-hand woman stepped in.

“A couple of minutes into it, it started getting a bit hot,” he said.

“The celebrant got through the legal bit just before she hit the deck.”
