Race against time to free whale trapped in rope at Cape Nelson

A humpback whale has managed to free itself after becoming entangled in rope at Cape Nelson, near Portland.

It was feared there’d be a race against time to free the distressed whale on Tuesday morning.

It was spotted struggling by a member of the public.

Wildlife rescuers responded to the problem, with the whale eventually managing to free itself.
